The JAG building at Kleber perfectly illustrates the situation.  The building has many doors, each with a sign outside identifying the offices within.  When you enter, you are in a stairwell.  At the door between the stairwell and the building is a sign saying, "This is not an entrance."  How do you get in?  You keep trying every door until you hit ( Read more... )

At last report, I had not been offered the first position, only knowing this because the job had been removed from my active list on the Army's website.  Today, however, the job is back on my list!  I THINK this means that whoever they offered the job to first accepted, then rejected, the position so now they're looking for someone else.  Maybe it' ( Read more... )

I did NOT get the first job.  Not that anyone called or otherwise notified me that someone else had been selected; I just saw that it has been removed from my tracking list.  :(

The second job is still open, but I haven't heard one single word from the guy who was so enthusiastic a couple of months ago.   :(

How depressing! 

I made the computer selection for a second job.....  still haven't heard the results of the phone interview for the first one, but I assume that if I haven't heard by now, then I'm not selected.  For the second job,  I HOPE to hear I made the short list....

I provided 3 references, as requested, to the job people.  I asked each of them to let me know if/when they are contacted by anyone.  Now there isn't anything else I can do but wait. 

Good:  it lasted way longer than the time allotted.
Bad:  he encouraged me to apply for other positions as they become available (last thing he said).

Sigh.  I figure my chances are less than 5%, given his last comment.

Not only did I actually make the computerized list, but I also survived the human review.  I have an phone interview next week!
